Back in April, we featured a vocal remover: you upload a song, and it hands you the vocals and the instrumentals separately. It's a great trick. It also means your audio travels to someone else's server.
VocalCut takes the same idea and makes a different promise. The site says its tools run on your own device, so your audio is never uploaded, and you don't need an account. (That's the site's own claim, and it's the whole pitch.)
And it isn't just one trick. There are more than 30 tools, all free.
Splitting songs apart: - Vocal Remover: separates a song into a vocal track and an instrumental track. - Stem Splitter: goes further, into four AI stems (vocals, drums, bass, and other), which you can solo, mute, and mix. - Karaoke Maker: fades the original vocal down to a guide and lets you shift the key to fit your voice.
Music-nerd tools: - BPM Finder: works out a song's tempo automatically, or lets you tap along. - Key Finder: detects whether a track is in a major or minor key. - Pitch Changer and Speed Changer: change the key and the tempo independently, so you can slow a song down without changing its pitch, which helps for learning a part by ear.
Everyday fixes: - Audio Cutter and Joiner: trim a song without re-encoding it, or merge several files into one. - Converter: switches between MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, AAC, and Opus. - Video to Audio: pulls the soundtrack out of a video file. - Noise Reducer: cleans background noise off a voice recording. - Volume Normalizer: sets loudness to a target for Spotify, YouTube, or Apple Music.
And a few just for fun: 8D Audio, which makes a song circle your head in headphones, Slowed + Reverb, and an Audio Reverser for playing anything backwards.
One honest note: separating a song doesn't change who owns it. Practicing, singing along, and learning a part are one thing. Posting or selling something made from someone else's recording can still require permission.
It's free and shows ads, and I couldn't find who built it. If you've ever hesitated before uploading a file to a random website, this is built for you.
