The sacred garden someone discovered in an abandoned field

This place wasn't supposed to exist.

The land in Takhian Tia, a quiet subdistrict outside Pattaya in Chonburi Province, was abandoned. Overgrown. Forgotten. Then someone found a Ganesha statue hidden in the brush — a golden elephant-headed god, the Hindu deity of wisdom, beginnings, and the removal of obstacles — and people started coming.

They came to pray. Then more people came. Then the land was cleared, the garden was built around the statue, and Ganesha Garden became one of the most quietly extraordinary spiritual sites in Thailand.

The statue stands about 12 feet tall, golden in the Thai sun, flanked by silver and gold mice — Ganesha's vehicle and companion in Hindu tradition. The mice are the detail everyone remembers. You kneel beside them, cup your hands around their ears, and whisper what you're hoping for. Career, love, luck, health, a decision you can't make alone. The mice carry it.

Bring flowers, incense, and fruit to offer. Everything you need is sold by vendors at the entrance. The parking fee is 20 baht — about 60 cents. The garden is open 24 hours, and locals say it's most peaceful late at night when the crowds thin and the lanterns are lit.

Most visitors to Pattaya never hear about this place. They come for the beach, the nightlife, the chaos. Forty minutes from the city center, in a subdistrict most tourists never find on a map, there's a sacred garden where a golden god waits in the quiet.

Go at night. Bring something to offer. Whisper what you need.
